WE HAVE A WALKER!
Matthew and I were playing by the train table yesterday morning. I tried to get him to walk to me, maybe a total of two steps. He was very obliging, with a big grin on his face. I thought I lost him though, as he moved along the wall towards the kitchen. What I didn't realize was that he was just trying to get to a place where he had more room to WALK! I quickly grabbed my video camera and turned it on.
He was too funny to watch. Last night I realized that I didn't have any pictures of him walking, so I was hoping he would perform again. He definitely didn't let me down! I am surprised he could walk at all, he was laughing so hard. Matthew was so proud of himself, but not as much I was! Even when he would fall right away, he still signed and said "again!"
I just remember back to when I was 12 weeks pregnant and my water broke. I was told that I would probably not see Baby C's heartbeat. Each week we still saw his heart beating. I was then told that he would not make it to birth because he didn't have any fluid to help his lungs develop. Then I was told if he made it to birth, he wouldn't survive. Throughout his 98 day NICU stay, he had many obstacles. He had to be given steroids, which can cause CP or brain damage, because he was already on the highest vents and his lungs weren't handling it well. He had ROP surgery on his eyes because his vessels were growing too fast and he risked having his retina detach (which is what caused Stevie Wonder to lose his eye sight). He has proven everyone wrong!
