The holidays have come and gone, presents have been opened, toys have been cast aside, and more than likely you have had a wonderful holiday. Now I would like to challenge you to bring that same type of joy to the children in Ghana, Africa.
On January 21st, Rachel Coleman and her daughter Leah are leading a group of volunteers to Ghana, Africa. Their main goal is to help teach the teachers, as well as the students, American Sign Language (ASL). They are currently using Signing Time! but most of the teachers were placed at these schools with no previous exposure to sign language.
Leah is 11 years old, but she has such as passion to help these students and educate other people about deaf children. Please help Rachel and Lucy fulfill this dream by:

Count me in and thank you for bringing this to my attention! I am inspired by Leah's desire to help others.
We love Leah & Alex at out house. We will probably wear out our Vol 1VHS because I keep rewinding to the opening song. That is their favorite part.

Okay, I'm a sucker for a young entrepreneur and activist. I couldn't donate very much, but it was something! :)
BTW, I'm not familiar with Signing Time but my nephew has only 5-6 words at 2-1/2. What are the videos like?
Loren, where does your nephew live? I would highly suggest that his parents check the local PBS station for Signing Time, check the dvds out from the library if possible, and visit the website to purchase them (you can click on the banner on the right of my blog).
Take a few minutes to look around on their website. You can see some of the short videos on You Tube also. My kids are signing like crazy and they are also way ahead of their typical peers in terms of letter identification, number identification, and vocabulary in sign.
I could go on and on about the benefits of sign language. I bet anything your nephew would just take off if it was introduced to him. Let me know if you need anymore specific pointers on where to start!
