Three smoke detectors down. Unplugged. Batteries are out. Wires hanging from hole in ceiling. Still beeping!? Make that four. Four perfectly good batteries. Holes have been vacuumed. Did I mention one of them is still beeping? One that has no battery, no smoke detector plugged into the wires, just a hole in the ceiling with wires hanging. They still beep? Everytime I think it has stopped, BEEP! Someone please take me away. At the rate I am going, I will have NO smoke detectors on my ceilings. They are going down one by one. BEEP!

Reminds me of the Friends episode where Pheobe beat a detector with a bat and threw it down the trash chute just to have the fireman bring it back to her!
Hope the beeping has stopped
We had one that did that once! I threw it out in the garage for the night.
LOL!! you crack me up! your writing is hysterical....there is an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" that reminds me of your story...rent that series some time if you haven't seen it!
We had that happen to us last year right before the triplets were born. We moved into a new house that has all the detectors wired together. They are so LOUD. Went off in the middle of the night. My husband knocked them all down like you. After 40 minutes or so we ended up wrapping them in towels and stuff them in the back of a closet in the basement. Can't remember what my husband said was the problem. I think something about holding a charge even after disconnected. I dread the day that ever happens with the kids hear! What'd your kiddos think?
