If I Could Go Back In Time

As much as it pained me to do it, I bought Leigha and me tickets to go see High School Musical on Ice. It wasn't that I didn't want to take her to see it, because I knew she would love it. I just think that once you have worked for Disney on Ice, we should have lifetime passes. Really, the company saved lots of money on me. I never requested tickets for the shows I skated in since I was overseas the entire time. Unfortunately, that's not how it works. I was able to get tickets for a long time from friends who still worked for the company. Slowly, sure surely, everyone has been getting off the road that I would have known. It's official, I am getting old!

This time it was different, though. I was really excited to take Leigha to see this show. Sadly, I will admit that I love all of the High School Musical movies! Unfortunately, Noe doesn't miss an opportunity to make fun of me for this either.

It was also nice for just the two of us to get out for a girls' night out. Leigha is with me a lot, but we don't get to do anything fun with just the two of us. I asked her where she wanted to go to dinner, and she chose Olive Garden. It was a GREAT choice! I hadn't been there since the boys were babies, and I love their salad and bread sticks. We had a great meal and had a chance to just chat about anything and everything.

On the way to the arena, we stopped by Walgreen's to pick up a few snacks. I used to work for Disney on Ice, I knew how ridiculous the price of the snacks and souvenirs were. Leigha and I had a talk about how we would have some snacks with us and how we weren't going to get snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, etc. She was totally fine with that. That is, until we walked in and sat in our seats. For the next 35 minutes, she did a fabulous job of begging me for the hat full of cotton candy, or the snow cones in the glowing cups.

Leigha cracked me up when she saw Troy and Gabrielle. She just looked at me and said that they don't look anything like the real Troy and Gabrielle. I have to admit, it was a bit of a disappointment. I know that understudies are in at all times (taking turns) so part of me hopes that Troy was an understudy.

They did a fantastic job with the basketballs. I was impressed!

During intermission, I gave in. I bought Leigha (ahem) cotton candy that came with a hat. As much as I hate wasting money on junk, I remember being a kid and wanting all of that stuff (and more). I think she was happy!

The first half was mostly HSM, and then the second half was HSM 2.

All in all, we both had a great time! We were able to escape, just the two us, and enjoy each other's company. We both loved the show. I just wish that show had been around when I was touring. I would have much rather skated THAT show than the ones I did. I think the HSM movies have great music. I can't say the same about some of the Disney music I had to skate to, over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

Yay! I'm taking Caitrin to see Disney on Ice on the 25th. We are seeing Cars and Tinkerbell. It'll be her first time, and I'm really excited about it.
