Mother Loses Temper

Last night I yelled 300 times at my kids to tell them to stop yelling, hitting, throwing toys, etc. My face was red because it was about to blow up. My eyes looked like they were going to pop out of my head. I closed my eyes and just wanted to open them and see my kids magically disappear up to their beds for the night. It didn't work.

OK, seriously, none of that happened. Last night a bunch of people were chatting about how someone's life seemed so perfect. Why is that? Her posts are so inspirational and just fun! On the other hand, she pointed out that she is just a regular mom who has her moments like everyone else. WOW...she's not perfect! Seriously, I don't come and post here every time I have yelled at my kids, lost my temper, etc. It's not what I want to remember later in life (and I don't have enough time to blog EVERY time I lose my temper).

I try to find the humor, later of course. For example, I wasn't thrilled when Matthew broke three of our expensive light switches. I do have to give him points for creativity. He can't reach the light switches, like his brothers, to turn them off and on one million times each night. Instead, Matthew grabs a book (or better yet, wooden train tracks) and uses them to WHACK the light switch to turn them off and on. Therefore, we havethree broken panels. He didn't just put a small crack in them, he BUSTED them into pieces. I am just waiting for the day he puts a hole in my television, sigh.

I guess I just never thought of it that way. When you aren't around someone in their normal, everyday life, you might get an impression that their life is perfect. In reality, their lives might not be so different from anyone else. Image shattered? NO! I would hate to be friends with a perfect person. What fun would that be? They would turn me into Child Protective Services if they ever spent 24 hours a day with me!

I completely agree, we all have days like those and it's nice to know we aren't alone. Raising kids is the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done! I wouldn't trade it for anything...imperfect as I am. It's not about being perfect every time, it's about loving them thru it all and putting them first, above our needs and wants....it's about having perfect intentions. :o)

So were you talking about me? Because you know I'M perfect! Muhahahahahahahaha!

When I first started reading your post I thought that you were in some serious Diet Coke withdrawals. I was going to call someone to come and hook an IV line in and get your caffeine level back up. Geez, don't scare me!

Wow. I read your first paragraph and laughed and laughed! I just started blogging (inspired by you!) and I have been trying to think of a new topic to blog. I am in my honeymoom phase with learning to become a stay-at-home mom and frankly it is the hardest thing I have every done. When I go in public with my kids, I feel like a freak show! We draw attention from everyone because my kids are so loud and wild! I am surviving and getting better each day.
