New and Improved!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I brought Noah home last night! I was all set for a few more days in the hospital since they had to keep bumping him back up to 1 liter of oxygen (he came home from the NICU on .1 liter). When I arrived at the hospital, on Friday morning, his doctor told me that they had him on room air all morning. That was what we were waiting for! Granted, I was also prepared to take him home on oxygen. Normally you would not be allowed to, but my pulminologist have given other doctors directions to let me take my kids out of the hospital on oxygen. It's not like I don't have any experience!

Last night, around 5:30 p.m., I was able to surprise the rest of the family. I finally had all of the kids together again. Too bad that didn't include Noe. I will say that the hospital is responsible for the love loss between Matthew and Noah. I don't think they liked be deserted for the other one while they were there. That wanted nothing to do with each other after they were separated! Hopefully that will be over soon.

Before they went to bed, the boys were satting fine. I did put probes on both of their feet so that I could go in and check before I went to bed. Both of them were satting between 92 and 94. Perfect for sleeping! I went to sleep peacefully last night.

Today they are both feeling much better. There was a lot more playing going on, mixed in with a bunch of whining, too! It better not take too long for these kids to understand that they can no longer only eat desserts, it's time to get healthier again! All three of the boys are receiving breathing treatments throughout the day. I swear it feels like a lifetime, even though it's only 10 minutes per child, each time!

I did not get a chance to check in with Nicole, but I am hoping she is feeling much better now that she has been on medicine for the past few days. Anyone care to take bets on if she WANTS to return to this house? It's a good thing they aren't on oxygen now or that might have really sent her over the edge! Hopefully she will be back with us on Monday. My mom is here until Tuesday morning, thank God!

For anyone who has entered my house in the past six months, they have been greeted with a horrific looking couch. One that says, "sit on me at your own risk!" Noe and I bought these green couches when we got our second apartment here. We thought they were really comfortable and we could afford them. Over the years, of abuse and negligence, the full sized couch starting showing the abuse outwardly.

Since Noe is in Japan, I will take this opportunity to blame it all on him! He always has his arm draped over the back cushions, bending them down in the middle. They were now completely out of shape! The arm of the chair started ripping, I could probably blame that on the cats. We didn't care much, we have three two-year olds. These couches were going to get us through until they were at least 5, so we thought. Then there was a little rip in the cushion. That little rip, which was Noe's fault of course, became a bit larger as the weeks went by. Rips in the top side of both cushions, no problem, just flip them over. Well, no problem until both of the other sides have rips in them! Now there is no hiding the rips. Robert seems to help them along by sticking his hand in the holes and moving it around. We couldn't even hide the rips with pillows anymore, they were EVERYWHERE!

For anyone that has been at our house, they are used to it. I am sure they think awful thoughts about us keeping it, but at least we don't feel the need to explain it to them anymore. Now that the cushions were totally trashed, and Noe decided to ditch us, I ended the idea of waiting a few more years. The time was NOW! I have issues with wanting things right NOW! I took Leigha to a furniture store on a Sunday morning, picked out the couches, had Noe stop by to give his approval (not that I cared since he wouldn't be here to enjoy them), and then bought them right away. I sort of doubted my choice to get couches that were "stone" colored. I have THREE TWO-YEAR olds! What was I thinking?! I also opted to get two full-sized couches and forget the love seat this time. No one ever wants to sit on a love seat and I could have a full sized couch for $20 more than a love seat. SOLD!

My husband's biggest fear was that I would end up shoving our couches out into the garage like everything else. What was he worried about? HE'S IN JAPAN!? Did I tell you that he is gone for 18 months? After we had a few good laughs over that one, I listed the couches on Freecycle. Everything goes on Freecycle! I thought I would go an extra step and actually take pictures of the couches so people could see what they looked like. These couches were FREE! I was overwhelmed by the number of responses of people who wanted the couches. I didn't know how to handle all of it. Oh wait, that's right, NO ONE wanted those couches. On Freecycle I was unable to unload those couches! Come one, are they really THAT bad?

Oh wait, those were the good sides of the cushions. I just don't understand why someone wouldn't want that wonderful specimen which has been spilled on, dripped on, spit-up on, slept on, etc. I even told them that they could have the lovely love seat couch, too! Doesn't that just make you want to jump on this FREE deal?

Okay, I will admit it, there was a catch. To get the lovely love seat couch, you HAD to take the big piece of trash with it. Can you believe that NO one emailed me? Complete shocker. I decided that the love seat couch would fit perfectly in Leigha's playroom so I decided to keep it. Noe took the other couch to Goodwill I think. I am sure they trashed it as soon as they saw it.

Now let's get back to the lovely stone colored couches that I ordered. I paid the extra $129 to get the warranty that if someone pukes, pees, spills, etc. on the couches, and I couldn't get them cleaned, they would send someone out to clean it up! I wouldn't even have to pay for it. This made the purchase just better! Seriously, potty training is just around the corner and I can't wait to see what happens to those couches! Don't they look great in the mean time??

They are micro suede and they wash off easily with a wet wash cloth. I am sure they will hate me though, by the end of the seven years I am sure they will have visited my house several times!

I love those couches though! Even more so, I LOVE having my kids back home again!!!

Wow! I love the new couches. You were so right to get the extra warranty. It is great that all the kids are home and I'm sure that Nicole will come back. :)

I'm so glad you've got all your kiddos home again. (BTW, I think we have the same awful green couches! We paid something like $100 for them when we bought them from friends in the army when we were first married and have just never replaced our either. I think we'll wait until all the girls are potty trained firsth b/c we just have stains... no rips or holes as yet. Oh, and I stopped explaining ours to visitors long ago, too.)

Yay so glad your family (well most of it) are back home and getting better.
We have couches like yours and they are so soft it is like sinking into a bug teddy bear. We purchased ours well before the idea of triplets came along and we did not get a warranty. I can only say program the phone # to your speed dial your gonna need it!

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for delurking on our blog. We're totally in love with Rachel Coleman and her larger family of signers, too. Hallie has already learned a whole lot and is communicating much more effectively than ever.

I haven't had time to read through your whole blog, but I did just want to say that I was so sorry to hear about the boys' RSV. Hallie is also getting the Synagis shots for the second year in a row and this helps keep us sane. We're not going to stress out YET about next year when she no longer qualifies, but boy is what you guys are going through scary! I'm glad to hear that things are on the mend.

Also, it must be really really hard with your husband in Japan---Sharon saw O a couple of years ago and really, really loved it though.

I had the same green couch for about 5 years before it did the exact same things. Those cushions were so pretty when we first bought them and by the end I hated them with a passion. Ours also split in the same place.
Glad to hear the boys are home!

I laughed so hard at the stinky, stained green couch that people use at their own risk. I was pretty sure up until this post that I had the only one in existence!

I love reassuring people that it's just water/juice on the couch, not urine. Mmmmm... makes you wanna get up close and personal with it, doesn't it.

Glad to hear the kids are finally reunited! I had a flashback to the days of oxygen tanks, and although they aren't fun, it's better to have your kids out of the hospital and back with momma.
